A Vancouver-based Kickstarter has smashed its fundraising goal, with hopes of creating a leather jacket for all kinds of weather.
The local company, called Threads of Apollo, has created a water-repellent, full-grain leather jacket. Wakkas Sachwani, the founder of the company, explains that the jackets are made water-repellent by an in-house solution that they developed themselves.
This is Kind of Obsessed, a column about all the stuff our team is really, really into right now.
Remember back when we used to leave our homes for something other than getting the mail? Good times. Miss those times.
What I don't miss about those times is how much more thought I had to put into getting dressed in the morning in order to, you know, look like a person. Does this work? Do these work? Am I wearing pants?
I was a terrible Mod. Like most teenagers in the south coast UK town where I lived, signing up for the Mod Revival in the autumn of 1978 meant sleuthing out the approximately right stuff—trim polo shirts, a 1960s suit, bad loafers—from charity shops for pennies. There was little in the way of rigor. With real fish-tailed US Army Surplus parkas already in short supply and with prices rocketing, I found an ex-German army version for £9 that was not at all right. But in Mod-dom, wearing the wrong shoes was an egregious error. The Clarks Desert Boots I got right. I bought them new. They were a dark brown and, if I remember, cost £19. I wore them into the ground that autumn.

Reebok has teamed up with Warner Bros. and DC to deliver a collection inspired by the upcoming “Wonder Woman 1984” film, which includes new iterations of the heritage athletic label’s iconic shoes.
The line, Reebok said, is inspired by the movie’s neon glow and consists of its retro 1980s silhouettes with features representative of the decade. The elements used in the shoes include iridescent materials, double denim and animal print.
That was what punk was like for me, as it was for many, a physical environment of noise.
“You were hit with this blast of noise. You physically recoiled from the shock of it, like a huge wind,” remembers journalist Legs McNeil.
My love affair with the Ramones lasted exactly 18 months and by the end of 1977 it was pretty much over. Sure, I bought every album up until the Phil Spector-produced End Of The Century in 1980 (the recording of which the band compared to Chinese water torture, while Dee Dee Ramone later claimed that Spector had pulled a gun on the band) and I was one of the few who bothered to turn up in a West End cinema to see them in Roger Corman’s Rock’N’Roll High School, but by the end of 1977 my brat had been well and truly beaten. As the New Yorker put it once, the band had become more interested in being themselves than in changing the world.
When it comes to outerwear, few pieces measure up to the iconic motorcycle jacket. Sleek and stylish, they're appreciated by riders and casual wearers alike.
While the classic belted design with diagonal zippers is usually the first motorcycle jacket that comes to mind, there are now countless styles on the market. Jackets designed for riders have a wide range of protective features, including padding and reflective stripes. Fashionable motorcycle jackets are designed with trendy features like removable hoods, vintage patches, and unique collars.
