Get high-level performance features at an entry-level price
I love these shoes so much that I found myself treating them a little bit preciously: I wore shoe covers unnecessarily to preserve the spotless white uppers; I walked a little more gingerly on concrete; and I did things like fasten the buckles before putting them in my bag to make sure they didn’t get folded weirdly. These shoes fit and ride like shoes you want to take care of.

The RP9’s have a fairly simple closure system with two Velcro straps across the forefoot and a lever ratchet fastening at the top. (The 2018 RP9 upgrades to a Boa closure) The microfiber synthetic leather body gives just enough to create a snug fit, breathes well, and won’t stretch over time like true leather tends to.
Shimano also includes inserts to adjust the fit of the insole, and the shoes are heat moldable—though like many who have reviewed them I found they felt good enough out of the box to skip that step.
For a grip of pro-level features at a super-affordable price, the Shimano RP9is an easy pick, even at full retail—and the sale price, saving you $150 on these shoes, is not an opportunity you’ll want to miss if you’re in the market for a footwear upgrade this season.
